Well not really gone on progress (visiting my many other homes in Europe... I Wish) But just hiding out in a dark cave somewhere in Colorado. Well I am a bit goth so I do love the dark places :o)
Faire season is upon us in Colorado and I am SO excited to start going again. I ended up selling 20 of my photos from CoRF (Colorado Renaissance Festival) to the brand new Faire magazine. Those 20 appeared in the premier issue in Novemeber. It was so cool seeing my photography in print in a circuilated magazine. This has led to other possibilities such as CoRF wanting those photos to use. I talked to one of the owners once already and will be talking more to them. WOW after 20 years of going to CoRF to have something exciting like this happen. Sadly in March my hard drive failed and my backup drive corrupted and many of my photos where lost even after doing data recovery. OH well just goes to show that you can lose backed up data. Lucky for me my portfolio was burned to a CD.
I have a new dress in the makings by Lady Kathleen of Olmstead or Kathy Castrovinci in Minnesota. She is the best of the best and made my Katherine Parr (Burgandy dress with fur sleeves) last year. This years dress will be a jaw dropper. I know at least for me it is. She has hand stiched over 1500 4mm pearls onto it. The dress will be done in a brocade Damask of gold and Hunters green with gold and black trim. The sleeves of the dress are removable as are the hanging sleeves for the doublet. My partlet is a sheer cotten viole with a high ruffled neck. I cannot wait to get it in mid May. She also made an Elizabethan corset and bumroll to go with it as well as a riding hat. But I will also be wearing my tan tall hat with it as the dress was designed and ordered around that hat with the Hunters Green scarf around the hat band. I'll post photos once I have the dress.
My awesome and most loving Lord Thomas aka Toki on www,renaissancefestival.com is also having a new outfit made by Lady Kathleen. His will be a deep burgandy with slashes. The slashes will be black silk and the main doublet with removable sleeves will be cordaroy. he will also have a pair of black Veneatians and a hat to go with it. The trim will be gold piping and his shirt will be black with a high ruffle neck in gold trim. Hewill now truely look the part of a noble lord or us a noble couple. But my partlet will be un-buttoned as an un-married woman of the times did.
I hope we can visit some other faires this year but it's not looking promising as Thomas was all but laid off a week ago. He works residential construction and gets if he is lucky. 16 hours a week right now. So hopefully he can collect some un-employment plus the few hours a week he does get to work. My job looks solid to at least September then I'm not sure. I was laid off in January but asked to come back to work a special project in March. I am the team lead and with the company I am at rolling out over 600 computer systems, I will stay busy through the summer and if I am really lucky through the end of the year which is a possibility.
Well I guess that's about it for now. I hope to see all my Faire friends soon from past faires and from Renspace and www.renaissancefestival.com. If you see me, stop and say Hi. I may have a favor for some who stop me (while supplies last) I will also have my DaVinci Fairy box in hand taking more photos and with luck, maybe the other faire related magazine or maybe even one of the Pirate/Pyrate magazines will like my photos from this year. And if I am even MORE lucky I will get to visit other wonderful faires and get those photos published.
So HUZZAH to all thy friends and hope to see thou soon
